The letter to SABC Board is hereby:

What is the main reason you will strike?
What should the Minister do to stop the strike?
Who should we negotiate with?

This is much better! To pick up the conversation - we really need to ensure that Snuki and the Board is not made the scapegoats - all the evil people must go, by way of a proper, independant audit.
ReplyDeleteWe must show the minister we will not rest until such an audit happens!
Let us put into perspective the difference of Peter Matlare and the still existing GCEO.
ReplyDeleteWe got increases up to 7% at that time in line with many other organizations. Peter Matlare came into the SABC at almost the same if not lesser situation than we are now. He turned this organization around and whoever thinks the first 14th cheque we received was from Dali Mpofu will continue to allow the Dali regime to bamboozle them today.
Peter Matlare and Mark Jakins had already included the 14th cheque at the announcement of our annual results. He was then forced to leave the SABC because no one could align him to any political stand. Dali only came in and implemented.
Look at what Peter Matlare is doing for Tiger Brands. Yes, they have been penalized for price fixing, but since he has been there he has paid the fine and made 120% more profit.
Now, that is the kind of leader I would want.

If I remember well under Matlare we used to cry a lot, we received minimal increases, please don’t forget. please get a CEO that will show profits and look after staff at the same time.

I think we need a plug and play CEO at this current situation.

May I appeal that we don’t get distracted and start fighting amongst each other.

As a member of CWU, I find your communication pathetic as you are only coming to us now because of media reports. I personally do not agree with going to the CCMA and for national leadership to take such steps without consulting its members is disturbing. I might have been in the minority with this view but would have appreciated being afforded the opportunity to give my voice, but leadership took that away from me.

The CWU national leadership has resolved on 7 May that we can not allow for top management to get away with “payment plans” and “discounts” on our member’s lives. It was resolved that the CWU will declare a dispute with the SABC, which has now been referred to CCMA for conciliation. We want to see an immediate payment of the full 12.2%, backdated to 1 April, plus interest.
The SABC belongs to Government, and Government put the management structure in place, which has spent more money than they had. Government must immediately provide the money required, and if government wishes to ensure it does not get spent badly again, it should rid the national broadcaster of those who have been seen to mismanage funds. Kindly see the CWU Shop Stewards Council submission in this regard, below.
I believe colour bars on air and 1kHz tone on radio will get the ministers attention, so he will conduct an emeregency, union-supervised audit!
ReplyDeleteComrades let's as members of this union what is our way forward if the negotiations are not in our favour today?
ReplyDeleteDo we go on strike or does any one have a second option or opinion?
I believe that the Minister of Communication has access to this blog and is also following every comment posted. I pray this is so.
ReplyDeleteAusterity for Top Management is for the working staff only.
1. Selling of OUR leave has been stopped
2. We cannot get coffee, tea, milk etc. from
the employer
3. Their communique yesterday about assisting
them in making small savings
WHILE TOP MANAGEMENT STILL ENJOY
1. Petrol Cards that amounts to a monthly
payment of R1m
2. Newspapers are still delivered to their
housed morning, afternoons and evenings
and in their offices
3. Robin Nicholson who refuses to accept
responsibility for his job and the lose of
all OUR money books the K1 Auditorium to
bluff us and then does not use it instead
books another venue in Houghton for his
financial review. This venue went with
food and drinks
4. Phumelele Ntombela-Nzimande has renewed
Kaizer Kganyago's contract without
following the proper processes. I ask has
this guy looked the part of a leading
Media Broadcaster Spokesperson.
5. We have a professional and very competent
printing department, but Phumelele and her
senior staff still use an external
printing company.
6. Their cars washed at their every whim at
the SABC's expense
7. It is believed that Ray Nkwe's two
girlfriends has used his petrol cards
(hear say)
8. Mafika Sihlali has millions of OURS not
attempt is being made to get it back.
I can go on and on and on. You see the GCEO (acting) says they are prepared not to take their increases, but what about the fat increases and bonuses they have already taken for themselves.
They now blame the Chairperson for paying for a driver/security guard. Are these people so arrogant to think that they can continue to undermine our intelligence in making us think that R300 000 is the cause of the R784m defecit the SABC finds themselves in.
SO U SEE, THE AUSTERITY PLAN IS FOR THE WORKERS TO BE DISADVANTAGED AND THE TOP MANAGEMENT TO CONTINUE LIVING THEIR COZY LIVES.
