Interim Board Fails - YAQAR

Yet Another Qualified Audit Report!

The embattled owners of the National Broadcaster (the Viewing Public) has been disappointed yet again by the Directorate of the SABC. Earlier this year, an Interim Board was appointed by the President to resolve non compliance issues at our broadcaster. They have however failed to deliver a proper audit report, for the following reasons:
  1. The Interim Board is "in the process" of taking the appropriate action regarding the AG’s special investigation on procurement, fruitless and wasteful expenditure and non-compliance with company policies.

  2. The external Auditors were unable to determine:
a. Whether the various allegations and other matters that are still being investigated have an impact on the financial position, the financial performance and cash flows as disclosed in the financial statements.
b. Whether the disclosure of fruitless and wasteful and irregular expenditure is complete as there has been non-compliance with Section 51 (1)(b)(ii) of the PFMA.

3. From the External Auditor's report:

In accordance with our responsibilities in terms of sections 44(2) and 44(3) of the Auditing profession Act of South Africa, we report that we have identified certain unlawful acts or omissions committed by persons responsible for the management of the SABC which constitute reportable irregularities in terms of the Auditing Profession Act, and have reported such matters to the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors. The matters pertaining to the reportable irregularities have been described in the reportable irregularity paragraph in the Directors’ Report.

The Viewing Public therefore asks:

Why did the Interim Board - and the Audit Committee Members they seconded at high cost - not do their job?

The AG, as well as SABC directors report confirmed that the R910m loss was largely due to mismanagement.

    1. A 15,3% increase in employee costs,
    2. Unbudgeted expenditure on foreign bureaus and SABC News International,
    3. A 15,3% increase in programme, film and sports rights,
    4. A 38,6% increase in software, property, plant and equipment costs
    5. A 38,2% increase in consultant and management fees, mostly to "rectify the outdated software problem", according to Kaiser Kganyago.

BULLSHIT!! All of the above was spent on the gang and their friends! Kganyago is part of that!

Mokoetle's first task would be to devise a strategy that would allow the SABC to service OLD DEBT, as well as NEW DEBT the government now "guarantees".

    OH LOTS OF LOVELY LOLLY!!!

Mokoetle takes up his new post on January 4.

Kganyago said Mokoetle had made it clear he intended to consult widely with the board and management when he assumed his position next month.

WHY NOT WITH STAFF???!! THIS IS HEADED FOR ANOTHER DISASTER!!!

"He said he would spend the first few weeks just listening. What he is thinking now, that will just be his personal view," Kganyago said.

Ya Ya Ya. familiar story. And no mention of "... unlawful acts ... committed by persons responsible....". Another whitewash coming. Also, do I believe my eyes, is this the same R Nicholson on the board, that same one, ex CFO, who watched SABC's finances disintegrate without a word or an action?

For now, Nicholson is indeed the incumbent, and the disciplinary process must be followed. If he is found not guilty, he will remain the CFO.

As unionists it looks like we've wasted our time.

We must insist on a meeting with the new GCEO - we know him for many years as grumpy, but fair. Hopefully he'll be able to see through the gang.

NEGOTIATIONS? With whom? A stupid "ANONYMOUS" board member has told Sunday Times they're not happy with Solly Mokoetle. He/she should shove that unhappiness - Solly will kick these people's butts! We have a motion of no confidence in the rest of management. If this Board Member plays along with the gang, we will have to dance on their heads. I'm sick and tired! Time for war!

Before we start singing Solly's praises. Let's see what he can do with this organisation. We'be been let down before by GCEO's whom we trusted. People change when they have power. Firing all the scum is not as easy as it sounds and we as unionists should know that. Robin is walking around the sabc with a huge smile on his face and I feel like a total fool because I was one of the people that staged a sit-in at his office. If only I could slap that stupid smile off his face, I'd be the happiest person at the SABC. Of the exco that was suspended, how many is back with a final written warning?

There will never be justice at the SABC. The corruption will not end unless the corrupt ANC has been expelled. Solly is just another brakkie of the government. FREE THIS COUNTRY FROM THE CAPITALISTS! PANZY ANC, We will only be free if we are all equal and this can only happen in a real communist government. With real communists in charge.

We will win - only if we all stand together and support our corruption fighters with constant information on the perpetrators. The truth shall set us free!
