Collective Bargaining

Comrades

The CWU Plant Executive needs your go-ahead on the following:

1. We want the SABC to PRIMARILY communicate all matters of mutual interest directly with the Plant Secretariat and Executive (whether it's Cde Tommy, Cde Rian or the Acting Plant Secretary, Cde Mimi).

2. Communication should be copied to CWU HQ, the Broadcasting and Allied Co-ordinator, Vulture, and the General Secretary, Gallant Roberts.

3. We need to mandate a member elected team in terms of the CWU office, and communicate the point of contact to the SABC. We feel that the point of contact should be immediately able to disseminate information to members, and HQ is not as able to do that as the Plant Secretariat is.

Please comment - the Plant Executive will be the communication hub for the union at SABC, and this is aimed entirely at improving communication channels, not at replacing union HQ. Effective communication is absolutely vital!

UPDATE ON CDE RIAN'S CASE: He will get to hear the sanction from the panel tomorrow at 14:00. Note that the panel now consists only of two members as the third is on suspension pending investigations.

Yes! Of course the SABC knows to communicate to our Elected Office Bearers! They should be taken to CCMA if they don't.

I do NOT trust HQ - Phumelele Nzimande went there last year, and they've been protecting her ever since. Same as BEMAWU!! Maybe even worse. Let's join MWASA!!

Truth be told CWU is still your best bet comrade. Comrade Ben's message makes it very clear, we communicate with the plant secretariat and that's more then enough if we want a better service. HQ have a lot on their plate hench the reason for a plant secretariat. Remember a union is not made up of one or two persons. If we are not happy with our leaders we simply let them go! Simple, we 're the members are the union, not the leaders.

Cde Rian has been offered by CWU leadership. like a lamb to cut his throat. Not a finger has been lifted to protect him! These charges against him is a lot of crap. How could he have been found guilty. Same incompetence from our so-called leaders? IF THEY CAN FIRE CDE RIAN, WHAT PROTECTION DO WE HAVE? First Cde Janine, now Cde Rian... who is next, cdes? Is Lapdog Visser more powerful than Cde Mimi, Cde Rian, Cde Tommy and Cde Solly, or was this just a convenient way to try and resolve the power struggle in CWU? Fak this racism makes me sick

Comrades, we are in trouble. HQ is selling us out. they are in bed with Group and Solly. Why did Phunelele go to HQ without us knowing? What were they gossiping about and what did they plan about our fate? Let us reposition ourselves, comrades. Its time for a new union, our own union. Viva New Communications Workers Union! Cde Rian for president. Mimi is useless. Away with these sell-out whites in our union.

This anger is not going to help comrade Rian at all. "We" including "you" is not doing anything about it. If something needs to be done, it has to start somewhere and with someone. Why don't you direct your anger in a positive way by leading a protest against the firing of comrade Rian. What I do not understand is, why are the leaders of CWU not saying anything to the members.
Come on comradem, let's work on this together and fight this. If the CWU's leaders are not doing anything, it's up to us to do something.
