Kaizer Kganyago told reporters that "SABC Employee Disputes" are not in the public interest.
He is misguided in this statement. When the public want to know why a competent, well loved newsreader is suddenly taken off air, they have the right to know. It is in the public's interest to know. News is in the public interest.
Similarly, when a whistleblower on corruption in the Public Broadcaster is dismissed, the public has the right to know why.
This reporter can at least venture a learned opinion. People who question gangsters are silenced at such a rapid pace that it really is not newsworthy any more. Sad.

Are you willing to defend the organisational rights of the union?
Can Cde Rian expect a fair hearing from these SABC managers?
By refusing to see our value, the SABC negotiators are:
Who currently keeps the SABC on air?
SEF has convinced Jane Duncan (freedom of expression champion) to accept our nomination, only if it comes from us
The counter proposal is:
Should CWU/MWASA refer the "agreement" signed by "SMS ballot" to CCMA for adjudication?
The letter to SABC Board is hereby:
Who can save the SABC?
What is the main reason you will strike?
What should the Minister do to stop the strike?
Who should we negotiate with?
Important Vote - Build the SABC
When you vote on this blog, your views are seen by the Minister, New Board, Exco, SMF, SOS campaign, TVIEC, ICASA, and the owners - the People of South Africa.

This is much discussed, tricky problem. My opinion is that if you earn your money in the public domain, then the public has a right to know - Tiger Woods, Mr. Zuma, Eskom, SABC
ReplyDeleteAgreed - this is an accepted worldwide norm. People who get paid by the public - should have no secrets from the public! From Rian
ReplyDeleteCOMRADE RIAN, if you were a member of BEMAWU, you would not have been fired. BEMAWU leadership would have fought tooth and nail for you. You just of to read the BEMAWU's blog to see how clued up the leadership is.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous of 1/3/10. You just don't know "your President", do you???
ReplyDelete"do you know yours?????????????????????????"
ReplyDeleteWe have an entire team of people. A General Secretary, a Deputy General Secretary, a President (Cde Joe Chauke), three Deputy Presidents, 9 Provincial Secretaries, 18 other staff. And we only pay R50 per month. By the way, Comrade Tommy and the entire Shop Stewards Council did fight tooth and nail for Cde Rian - but Bemawu's panel (Visser, Ashen and Leballo - who is a Bemawu member and also suspended).
ReplyDeleteIt was Bemawu's President that sold out Rian to the SABC fat cats - we are in posession of an e-mail from Bemawu President to SABC that claims Rian is not a union member. 24 hours later the case was fabricated. Before that then SABC did not attempt to touch our beloved Plant Secretary. Bemawu is a filthy, backstabbing union of arrogant fools.
Thank you for clearing up some things. We always smelt a RAT somehow but could not place the smell's origins........sies poe ga!!!
